Brian Clipp is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in engineering and computer vision. Currently serving as Senior Principal Engineer and Team Lead Manager at Motional since July 2025, Clipp has previously held key positions at Kitware Inc., where roles included Staff Research and Development Engineer, Technical Leader, and Assistant Director of Computer Vision from October 2017 to June 2019. Prior experience includes a position as Senior Scientist at ARA, where development of pose estimation software for a DARPA program took place, and as a Senior Research Engineer at URCV, focused on creating 3D scene models from video. Clipp also contributed as a Visiting Lecturer at ETH Zurich and completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where research involved the development of real-time visual SLAM algorithms.
