Kisaanth is a data scientist at Motorway. Prior to that, they worked as a trader analyst at Onyx Commodities from August 2019 to November 2019. There, they supported fuel oil traders with market-making activities in the OTC voice-brokered derivatives market and automated various administrative processes using VBA. They also developed Excel spreadsheets to conduct daily risk position and PnL reconciliations against clearing bank’s statements and assess the accuracy and validity of mark-to-market.
At Onyx Commodities, kisaanth was also responsible for accurate trade data entry within company’s Reporting, Risk and PnL systems in a dynamic and fast-paced trading environment. They produced weekly commercialised reports outlining observed market activity, fundamentals, market view and trade ideas in paper markets across the barrel (i.e. refined products and crude oil). These reports were sold to clients of the Onyx Advisory Group which included major physical oil companies.
In addition, kisaanth conducted market research into the impact of IMO 2020 regulations on the Fuel Oil market and suggested trade ideas to management, one of which was subsequently developed and executed. They also produced ad hoc price action analysis (e.g. correlation of various calendar/product spreads) which were used to support traders’ position hedging activities. Lastly, they assisted in the development of the company wide risk system providing the bridge between back-end developers and traders.
