Jonathan Barnes

Jonathan Barnes is a seasoned civil engineer with extensive experience in track engineering and rail operations. Currently serving as a Technical Director at Mott MacDonald since October 2022, Jonathan has also held the position of President at the Rail Track Association Australia since November 2014, contributing to industry improvement as a volunteer. Previously, Jonathan worked as the Associate Director of Engineering (Track and Civil) for Sydney Metro, where responsibilities included leading metro technical initiatives, and held multiple roles at Sydney Trains, including Senior Wheel and Rail Engineer and A/Rail Inspection Services Manager. Jonathan's early career includes positions as a Graduate Engineer at RailCorp and as a Safeworking Officer at A B Safety Rail and Swetha. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Western Sydney University, completed in 2010.
