Mountain Community Online School (MCOS) is a flexible online learning program serving students in grades 4–8 across North Carolina. MCOS provides families with a structured online education supported by licensed teachers who guide students academically while helping them build confidence, independence, and strong learning habits.

Our program combines the flexibility of online learning with consistent educator support. Students complete rigorous coursework through an online platform while receiving guidance, feedback, and progress monitoring from experienced teachers. This structure allows students to move at an appropriate pace while maintaining clear academic expectations and accountability.

MCOS is designed for families seeking a different learning model. Some students benefit from a more flexible schedule that supports travel, athletics, or unique family circumstances. Others thrive with a personalized learning pace or a quieter learning environment that allows them to focus and succeed academically.
While learning happens online, students remain connected to real educators who provide support, encouragement, and regular communication with families. Our goal is to create an online learning experience that is structured, supportive, and focused on helping each student reach their potential.

Mountain Community Online School is part of Mountain Community Schools, an organization expanding innovative educational opportunities for students in North Carolina. Mountain Community Schools also operates The Mountain Community School, a public charter school in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
