Michael Birch

Michael Birch is a Senior Software Engineer currently working at Moved Network, where the focus is on designing and developing software that integrates the Ethereum ecosystem with the Move programming language, including a new L2 blockchain for Move smart contracts. Birch has extensive experience in blockchain technology, having held senior engineering roles at Aurora Labs and Near Inc, contributing to projects that connect Ethereum and NEAR blockchains and reviewing architecture for performance improvements. Previous experience includes leading the development of a proof-of-stake blockchain at CasperLabs and tackling blockchain speed and scalability challenges at RChain Cooperative. Birch's academic background encompasses a Master's degree in Physics and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from McMaster University, complemented by various research assistant roles in both theoretical and applied fields within academia.
