Moving Windmills Project is a nonprofit based in Kasungu, Malawi, founded in 2008 and inspired by William Kamkwamba’s story in The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind —first the book, then the Netflix film, and now a stage musical.

In Kasungu District, we partner with local leaders and schools to support youth-led, community-built solutions: clean water, solar power, stronger learning environments, and practical skills training.

Phase Zero built the foundation through community hubs and pilot projects. Phase One is the Moving Windmills Innovation Center — a home base for mentorship, collaboration, and locally designed innovation.

If you’d like to follow the build, partner, or support the work, we’d love to connect.
