Mathias Wilhelm has a diverse work experience in the field of computational mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, and research. Mathias is currently a Professor of Computational Mass Spectrometry at the Technical University of Munich since March 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Group Leader in Bioinformatics at the same university from June 2017 to February 2021. From November 2015 to May 2017, Mathias was a PhD Graduate Student at the Technical University of Munich.
In addition to their academic roles, Mathias has also been involved in entrepreneurial ventures. Mathias co-founded MSAID in August 2019 and OmicScouts GmbH in June 2014. At both companies, they held the position of Co-Founder.
Before their time at the Technical University of Munich, Mathias worked as a PhD Graduate Student at SAP from August 2012 to October 2015. Mathias also gained research experience as an Assistant Researcher at Harvard Medical School from February 2012 to July 2012. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Technical University of Munich from November 2011 to January 2012 and at Bielefeld University from April 2010 to September 2010.
Mathias Wilhelm earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Bioinformatics and Genome Research from Bielefeld University from 2006 to 2009. Mathias then pursued their Master of Science degree in Informatics in the Natural Sciences at the same university from 2009 to 2011. Finally, they completed their academic journey by obtaining a Doctor of Natural Sciences degree in Bioinformatics from the Technical University of Munich from 2012 to 2017.
