James Thomson is an experienced executive in finance, currently serving as Executive Director - Data Content and Services and Head of ESG Ratings at MSCI Inc. since January 2022. Previously, James held the position of Executive Director - Global Capital Markets and Head of Ratings Advisory EMEA at Morgan Stanley from October 2015 to December 2021, leading the European Corporate Credit Ratings Advisory Team. Prior roles include Lead Analyst covering high yield issuers within Moody's Investors Service's Leveraged Finance team from December 2010 to September 2015, and Associate Analyst with a focus on oil and gas companies. James holds a Master of Science in Finance and Investment from BPP Business School, London, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from UCL.
