Arman Tatar

Research Assistant

Arman Tatar is a Structural Engineer with extensive experience in various engineering roles. Currently employed at Tetra Tech since February 2025, Arman previously held a position at KPFF Consulting Engineers, where design responsibilities included mass timber, steel, and concrete structures. Arman has served as a Research Assistant at Michigan Technological University since August 2017, contributing to the design and development of an Uplift Friction Damper (UFD) for mass timber systems, and conducting numerical simulations in OpenSees and ABAQUS. Additionally, Arman has experience as an Instructor, teaching courses in Structural Analysis and Design, and Statics and Strength of Materials. Prior roles include being a Civil Structural Engineer at PERMAYON Advanced Strengthening Co., where responsibilities included seismic retrofitting and structural evaluations of bridges, and as a Researcher at Amirkabir sustainability office. Arman holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Structural Engineering from Michigan Technological University, as well as multiple degrees in Structural Engineering and Earthquake Engineering from recognized institutions.
