John Irwin

John Irwin is a seasoned educator and researcher currently serving as Professor and Chair of the Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology Department at Michigan Technological University since August 2006. Irwin's teaching interests encompass a range of subjects including inquiry perspectives in education, engineering processes, and interactive physics. Administrative contributions include serving as Principal Investigator for a Title II grant focused on improving teacher quality in STEM education, alongside various leadership roles in curriculum coordination and program reporting. Prior roles include positions at Ferris State University and Mott Community College, as well as practical experience in engineering design with multiple companies. John Irwin holds an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State University and several degrees in engineering and education from Ferris State University and Michigan Technological University.
