Michael Davenport P.E. has a diverse work experience in the automotive and steel industries. Michael is currently the Executive Director & President of Auto/Steel Partnership, where they lead a consortium of automotive companies, steel mills, and suppliers in research and education. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Engineering - Applications at United States Steel Corporation, where they were responsible for building and leading product application teams. Before that, they worked at Chrysler as the BIW Manager - Upperbody Systems, overseeing the design and validation of the upperbody portion of the BIW for all Chrysler vehicles. Michael also has experience as a Product Development Engineer at Lapeer Metal Products, managing accounts for new product development. Currently, they are the Associate Director, Experiential Learning Partnerships at Michigan Technological University, focusing on establishing relationships between the university and industry.

Michael Davenport P.E. earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in the years 1989-1993. Michael later pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University during the years 1996-1999. Additionally, they obtained certifications including Design for Six Sigma - Greenbelt from Taguchi Method in 2008 and became a Professional Engineer - State of Michigan in 1999.
