Stan Vitton

Professor

Stan Vitton is a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at Michigan Technological University, a position they have held since 1994. Prior to this, they worked as a Mining Engineer at Shell Oil Company from 1978 to 1982, where they were involved in the development and permitting of the Buckskin Mine and served as the environmental permitting supervisor. Vitton also held the role of Engineering Manager at R&F Coal Company, overseeing engineering management and strategic planning. They earned a BSE in Geological Engineering and an MSE in Mining Engineering from Michigan Technological University, followed by a PhD in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical studies from the University of Michigan.
