MUSE/IQUE

MUSE/IQUE is a nonprofit, counter-conventional orchestra founded by community leaders in March 2011 with the vision of being at the forefront of redefining how people actively engage with live music. MUSE/IQUE aims to provide eclectically diverse and educational experiences that are accessible to everyone in the community. MUSE/IQUE programming is designed and led by the singular vision and talents of Rachael Worby – the critically acclaimed conductor and preeminent leader in arts education. Through MUSE/IQUE’s ongoing programming, Maestra Worby is expanding the definition of “orchestra” to include not only the players but all of the artists, the audience, the volunteers, the surrounding environment, our collective perceptions, and more. A notable facet of Maestra Worby’s conducting style is her direct communication with all audiences through insightful and enlightening remarks which enhance their appreciation and understanding of the eclectic range of artists, genres, and performance disciplines. MUSE/IQUE events are innovative and adventurous collaborations between our orchestra and internationally-acclaimed artists such as Jessye Norman, Angela Bassett, Rickie Lee Jones, Arturo Sandoval, Flea, Laurence Juber, Abraham Laboriel Sr., Scott Tennant, Charlie Haden, Steven Page, Patti Austin, Mary Wilson, Kevin McHale, Matt Haimovitz, Michael Martin Murphey, The Doric Quartet, Nnenna Freelon, Savion Glover, Colin Hay, and several living composers. In its brief five-year history, MUSE/IQUE has served nearly 34,000 people and is dedicated to building a passionate and diverse audience.
