Ken Merz is the Corporate Secretary for O&G Industries where he has directed all administrative activities for the State’s largest privately-held construction firm, and one of the country’s Top 400 Construction Firms since 1970. During his nearly five decades with O&G, Ken has been instrumental in providing executive leadership across human resources, information technology, regulatory compliance, mergers/acquisitions, legal and finance functions for the company.
Ken is also widely known for his service to the community. In 2014, he was named as the Torrington Register Citizen’s Person of the Year for his long-standing contributions to the community. In 2017 Ken received the community Leader Award from the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce.
Ken is the co-founder and President of the KidsPlay Children’s Museum in Torrington that has grown into a learning and recreational destination annually for over 40,000 visitors throughout the region. Ken has also served as President of the Warner Theater and as a director of the Torrington Economic Development Corporation, Litchfield Performing Arts Center and the Oliver Wolcott Library.
Ken holds a Bachelor of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Professional Accounting from the University of Hartford and a Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut. Ken is a Certified Public Accountant a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.
