Stuart Barnes

Stuart Barnes is an accomplished Optical Systems Architect with an extensive background in optical design, simulation, and analysis, specializing in high-resolution spectrographs, cameras, and fiber optics. They completed a postdoctoral fellowship and research associate role at the University of Texas at Austin’s McDonald Observatory, where they contributed to prominent telescope projects. Barnes has worked as an Optics Expert at Mynaric, focusing on space-based optical communication systems, and has held various positions, including Optical Design Consultant and Senior Advisor Optical Design. Currently, they are pursuing advanced degrees in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Canterbury.
