Stephen Hardy has worked in a variety of roles throughout their career. Stephen began their career in 2000 working as a staff member for Congressman Jerry Moran at the United States House of Representatives. In 2001, they moved to The Conservation Fund as a Land Advisory Services. In 2005, they joined BNIM Architects as Director of Planning, where they developed the firm's sustainable community planning practice. In 2012, they became Chief Community Builder at MindMixer, focusing on connecting citizens and creating communities of contribution. In 2013, they joined Riot New Media Group as an Advisory Board Member. Finally, in 2016, they became Chief Executive Officer of mySidewalk, a city intelligence tool that helps local government analysts track, analyze, and communicate progress on citywide goals.

Stephen Hardy attended The University of Kansas from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a BA in American Studies. Stephen then attended Harvard University Graduate School of Design from 2003 to 2005, where they earned a Master in Urban Planning.
