Nacha
Michael Herd has extensive work experience in the electronic payments industry. Michael started their career at Bain and Associates in 1994 as an Account Executive, where they worked until 1998. After that, they joined NACHA - The Electronic Payments Association and held various roles, including Director of Public Relations, Senior Director of Communications, Managing Director of ACH Network Rules, Senior Managing Director of ACH Network Rules and Enforcement, and currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of ACH Network Administration.
Michael Herd attended the University of Virginia from 1985 to 1989, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Interdisciplinary Foreign Affairs.

Nacha governs the thriving ACH Network, the payment system that drives safe, smart, and fast Direct Deposits and Direct Payments with the capability to reach all U.S. bank and credit union accounts. More than 29 billion ACH Network payments were made in 2021, valued at close to $73 trillion. Through problem-solving and consensus-building among diverse payment industry stakeholders, Nacha advances innovation and interoperability in the payments system. Nacha develops rules and standards, provides industry solutions, and delivers education, accreditation, and advisory services.
