Margaret Heisel

Director, Center for Capacity Building in Study Abroad

Dr. Margaret Heisel is currently a Research Associate at the University of California, Berkeley, where they contribute to the Center for Studies in Higher Education. With over three decades in higher education, Heisel previously served as the Founding Director of the Center for Capacity Building in Study Abroad, a collaborative initiative aimed at preparing U.S. students for success in the global workforce. Prior to this role, they held various positions within the University of California System, including Associate Vice Provost and Director of Undergraduate Enrollment Management, and began their career as a faculty member at Louisiana State University and the University of California, Davis. Heisel earned a Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of Kansas.
