Based in the heart of rural Nagano, we are a small team committed to the conservation of rural Japan, one building at a time. We restore minka and kura that have quietly slipped out of daily use, working with local materials and traditional craftsmanship to honour each structure’s history and character. 

The result is a slowly growing collection of thoughtful, understated spaces that offer guests a way to connect with the slower rhythms of Nagano and experience its quiet beauty. 

Alongside restoration, we work closely with the community to curate experiences that reflect the skills and traditions of the region. These range from refined practices like the tea ceremony to everyday crafts shaped by the land, including small-batch brewing and seasonal farming. For those drawn to nature, there are moss-lined paths through the forest, the hush of snowfall in winter, and a slower pace to rest in an unhurried moment. 

Beyond hospitality, our work is rooted in long-term partnerships. We support local governments and organisations on initiatives like helping maintain organic rice paddies, promoting dark skies, and contributing to local resident housing needs. 

Ultimately, our aim is to show that these rural buildings, and the communities around them, still have value. By restoring and reusing what’s already here, we hope to create something lasting, both for the people who live here and for those who come to visit.
