Dr. Patel is currently the Robert G. and Jean A. Ojemann Endowed Professor of Neurosurgery and Associate Professor of Radiology and Neurology at Harvard Medical School. He is Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs within the Department of Neurosurgery and Director of the Neuro-endovascular and Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery Programs at Massachusetts General Hospital with a clinical focus on the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations, and stroke. Dr. Patel leads a multi-disciplinary group of neurosurgeons, radiologists, and neurologists with a focus on the care of patients with cerebrovascular disease across the specialties of neurosurgery, radiology, and neurology. Previously, he was at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York as Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiology, Director Cerebrovascular/Endovascular Neurosurgery, Co-Director Stroke Program, Vice-Chairman Department of Neurosurgery and Program Director of the Neurosurgery Residency Program. He started that program in 2001 after completing post-graduate training in neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology at UCLA with a focus on the care of patients with the cerebrovascular disease across the specialties of neurosurgery, radiology, and neurology. This collaborative approach led to the growth of the Mount Sinai program becoming one of the busiest centers in New York City.
