Mary Murphy

Director of Payloads at NanoRacks

Mary has been at Nanoracks since 2014. As the Director of Payloads, she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Program Team with the all-encompassing goal to create value for the company and customers.

Mary provides leadership to the Program Management team and collaborates cross-functionally with department managers and their teams to further Nanoracks’ operational excellence and delivery to exceed customer expectations. Mary also provides tactical and strategic guidance to the Executive Management team on a regular basis.

Initially working Mission Management for CubeSats she has continuously grown alongside the company, taking on additional responsibilities and challenges. Mary’s previous roles have been Account Manager External Payloads, Internal Payloads Manger, and Senior Internal Payloads Manger. In these roles, she provided overall project coordination between stakeholders for customer accounts.

Honing her customer and business skills, she has served as the primary interface between customers and NASA, senior management, and between customers and Nanoracks’ Operations, Flight Safety, Engineering and Avionics teams.

Prior to working at Nanoracks, Mary worked as a Program Engineer and Project Manager at Advanced Technology Systems Company, a Teaching Fellow in Project Engineering and Manufacturing at the University of Maryland, and as an Assistant Project Manager and Bid Coordinator at Sun Control Systems.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from The Project Management Institute.
