National ACO provides the opportunity for primary care physicians to receive value-based payments at no-risk. A provider’s success is often dependent upon the retention of their patients, which relies on the quality of care, and high-quality care lends itself to better outcomes. Improved outcomes aide in patient retention. MSSP ACO’s such as National ACO continue to be compensated on a fee-for-service basis; and based on the ACO’s performance in any given calendar performance year, are eligible for substantial shared savings over and above the fee-for-service revenue generated by their providers.
