Patrick Hynes

New Infrastructure Regulation Manager

Patrick Hynes has over three decades of experience in the energy sector, currently serving as the New Infrastructure Regulation Manager at National Grid since 2010. In this role, Patrick manages regulatory submissions for £17bn of new infrastructure aligned with the UK's target of 50GW of offshore wind by 2030 and the commitment to reach Net Zero by 2050. Previous positions include Regulatory Policy Manager, where Patrick influenced public policy related to industry regulations, and Electricity Commercial Strategy Manager, where leadership focused on future electricity market arrangements and strategic development for positive customer outcomes. Patrick also has extensive experience in managing transformation in connection and access arrangements under the Connection and Use of System Code. Patrick began a career at National Grid in 1990 as a Planning and Operations Engineer after earning a BEng in Electrical and Electronics from the University of Glasgow.
