Steve Smith

Stephen Smith serves as the Interim Chief Strategy and Regulation Officer and President of National Grid Partners at National Grid since October 2021. In this role, responsibilities include overseeing market analytics, innovation, and corporate strategy across both US and UK operations, as well as leading the corporate venture capital fund based in California focused on energy startups that contribute to achieving Net Zero. In addition, Stephen has been a Council Member at The Regulatory Policy Institute since May 2011. Previous positions include various director and managing director roles at Lloyds Banking Group until September 2021, non-executive director positions at GLOBAL-365 PLC and Flipper, and significant leadership roles at Ofgem. Stephen's educational background includes an MSc in Economics and Econometrics and a BSc in Economics, both from the University of Bristol.
