Chief People and Culture Officer at National Grid

Will is responsible for devising and delivering the National Grid people plan, aligned with the business strategy. Prior to joining National Grid in April 2022, Will was Chief People Officer at Capita plc; a consulting and digital services business, employing over 60,000 colleagues in a variety of countries and servicing both corporate and government clients. Prior to that he was Chief People Officer at Amec Foster Wheeler, a global engineering and project management company with over 40,000 colleagues in over 40 countries.

Will has 30 years of experience in Human Resources, gained predominantly in the engineering and project management sector; supporting clients in the Oil and Gas, Mining, Nuclear and Renewables industry. He holds a Masters Degree in HR from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

The vast majority of Will's career has been gained in an international environment in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

This has involved leading change in organisation design, supporting M&A activity, leading integrations, distilling organisation culture, driving efficiency, operating model design and transforming HR functions in areas including resourcing, developing talent, diversity & inclusion and executive reward. Other areas of responsibility have included Sustainability, HSE and Property.
