The National Quality Infrastructure System is ascribing to the Private Law and belongs to the Greek public sector. It maintains administrative and financial independence, and operates for the sake of public interest under the Minister of Growth and Competitiveness. 
NQIS includes the following independent operating units: "Hellenic Organization for Standardization - ELOT" and "Hellenic Institute of Metrology - EIM", which maintain their total independence regarding management, administration and finances.
