David Pile is a Senior Editor at Nature Photonics, based in Australia since June 2022, after serving in the San Francisco Bay Area from 2010 to June 2022. With a strong background in editorial judgment and scientific knowledge, David has significantly contributed to the field of photonics. Additionally, David is a Visiting Scholar at Queens College since November 2015, conducting research in electromagnetic and acoustic wave propagation as well as condensed matter physics. Previous experience includes serving as an Executive Board Member for the AWIS Palo Alto Chapter and holding editorial positions at Nature Publishing Group and research roles at UC Berkeley and the University of Tokushima, Japan. David holds a Ph.D. in theoretical optics from Queensland University of Technology, alongside Bachelor's degrees in Physics and Mathematics.
