Nick Birbilis

Nick Birbilis currently serves as the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Built Environment at Deakin University since October 2022. With a rich academic background, Nick holds multiple honorary and faculty positions, including Honorary Professor and Interim Dean at The Australian National University, and Adjunct Professor at Monash University. In addition to academic roles, Nick is the Editor in Chief for Materials Degradation at Nature Publishing Group, Associate Editor for Electrochimica Acta at Elsevier, and Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Maple Glass Printing. Nick's extensive experience includes consulting engineering at AECOM, where active involvement began in 2003, and a history of visiting professorships and research positions. Education credentials include a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Monash University and participation in various leadership and innovation programs from prestigious institutions such as Columbia University and the University of Oxford.
