Ross Cloney

Ross Cloney is a highly experienced leader in the field of biotechnology, currently serving as Chief Editor for Biotechnology at Nature Communications since November 2014. Cloney manages a team of specialized editors while maintaining expertise in synthetic biology, genome engineering, and related areas. Responsibilities include strategy development for journal projects and fostering the professional growth of team members. Previous roles at Nature Communications include Team Lead, Senior Editor, and Associate Editor, with a focus on a diverse array of manuscripts related to biotechnology, genetics, and molecular biology. Prior to this, Cloney was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Sussex, where projects focused on telomerase regulation and DNA repair. Cloney holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Sussex and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of East Anglia.
