Stephen Varwell is currently the Peatland Action Manager for Planning & Communications at NatureScot, focusing on peatland restoration and integrating it into wider land management policy. Previously, they served as a Rural Surveyor with Scottish Natural Heritage, covering various regions in Scotland, and worked as an Estate Agent and Property Advisor at Murchison Law. Stephen holds multiple degrees from the University of Aberdeen and the University College of Estate Management, including a Master's in Rural and Regional Resources Planning. Passionate about rural community development, they manage their own croft and serve as a Trustee of Kilmuir Community Trust. Additionally, they have experience as a Guest Lecturer at the Scottish Crofting Federation, teaching aspiring crofters on land and livestock management.
