Matthew Nicholas

Matthew Nicholas is a Senior Intelligence Specialist at the National Basketball Association (NBA) since February 2021, specializing in geopolitical developments in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Prior to this role, Matthew served as a Political Officer at the U.S. Department of State, coordinating multi-lateral efforts in response to political threats from August 2017 to February 2021. Earlier experience includes a tenure as a Political Analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency, where insights into security trends were provided from April 2009 to August 2017. Matthew also worked as a Research Analyst at Detica, focusing on Homeland Security and emergency preparedness from March 2008 to March 2009, and as a Program Coordinator at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, contributing to research management from October 2006 to February 2008. Matthew holds a Master's degree in International Relations, East Asia, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Boston University.
