Michael Abbott has 30 years of experience in education, beginning as a special education teacher and progressing to roles in administration, curriculum development, and educational leadership. After relocating to Africa in 2003, they founded and directed the Leadership Academy of West Africa from 2008 to 2017 and currently serve as the Head of Educational Programming at NBA Academy Africa, where they design rigorous academic programs. Additionally, as an educational consultant at KIES Educational Services since 2022, they oversee curriculum development and mentor teachers in an alternative educational setting. Michael holds a degree in African/African American Studies and History from the University of Virginia.
