Michael Cooper

Michael Cooper is an experienced leader in advocacy and public relations, currently serving as the Senior Director of Advocacy at NC Child since May 2023, where the focus is on campaign strategy and team leadership. Previously, Michael held the position of Government Affairs Director for the NC Association of REALTORS®, overseeing local government relations in Western North Carolina. Michael also co-directed the North Carolina Chapter of New Leaders Council and worked as a Public Information Officer for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. Additional experience includes roles as a politics reporter for Scalawag and an attorney at McElwee Law Firm, as well as positions at Generation Progress and Hip Hop Caucus, and a Congressional internship with the U.S. House of Representatives. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Appalachian State University.
