Jeff Cherry is the Principal Staff Attorney at the NC General Assembly, where they have been employed since 2007, focusing on legislative drafting and researching bills in various sectors, including Environment and Energy. Prior to this role, they served as the Associate Director of Public Affairs at the Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina from 2006 to 2007, engaging in grant writing and fundraising for HIV/AIDS services. Cherry began their legal career as an attorney at Hunton & Williams from 1993 to 2004 after earning a JD from Harvard Law School in 1993, following a dual Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State University, completed in 1989.
