Daniel Johnson is the Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Transportation and has previously served as the Deputy General Counsel at NCDOT from 2017 to 2019. Johnson has a rich legal background, holding positions as Of Counsel at Capital Law Group and as a Partner at Willis & Johnson, PLLC, where they focused on criminal defense and civil litigation. Their earlier experience includes roles as Assistant District Attorney in Wake County and Legislative Correspondent for US Senator Max Cleland. Johnson also has military experience as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy before earning a B.A. in History and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina.
