Francesca McCarthy

Francesca McCarthy is a distinguished professional in the field of dance education and arts administration, with extensive experience serving as Head of Undergraduate Studies at Northern School of Contemporary Dance from January 2007 to April 2024 and as an External Examiner at Trinity Laban from September 2019 to July 2023. Francesca's early career included teaching ballet and contemporary techniques while freelancing in London and Norway, alongside roles as a Dance Teacher for Tromsø kommune and an External Academic Reviewer for The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Francesca currently contributes to the arts community as a Board Member for Rendezvous Dance, supporting LGBTQIA+ engagement, and as Chair of the Board for The Middle Floor, an inclusive arts space, alongside leadership in assessment solutions at NCFE since April 2024. Francesca holds an MA in Dance Training and Education and a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School, as well as a qualification in Ballet and Dance Teaching from Northern Ballet School.
