Tom Blau

Tom Blau is a Senior Data Scientist at Nearmap, where they focus on AI and computer vision for aerial images in a big data environment. Previously, Tom held various positions, including a Data Scientist role at Nourish Ingredients and a Machine Learning & AI CERC Fellow at CSIRO's Data61, where they contributed to research in Bayesian optimal design of experiments and reinforcement learning. Tom completed a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Sydney, specializing in machine learning for robotics, and has published several research papers and a forthcoming book chapter. Earlier experience includes working as a Platform Engineer at Smart Sparrow and a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Sydney.
