Derek Lapiska has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Derek is currently employed as a Senior MES Engineer at NECI since January 2022. Prior to that, Derek worked at Corning Incorporated from May 2019 to January 2022, first as a Submarine Fiber Processing Supervisor and then as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Before joining Corning, Derek served as a Science Instructor at the State of North Carolina from August 2016 to May 2018. Prior to that, they worked as a Science Instructor at the State of Delaware from August 2013 to August 2016, where they led teaching sections of Chemistry and Biology and collaborated with special education co-teachers. Derek also gained experience as an SBE New Technology Associate at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers from July 2011 to July 2012. Additionally, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Delaware from May 2010 to August 2010, assisting with bio-fuel projects for the Office of Naval Research. Finally, Derek served as a SABIC Scholars Mentor at the University of Delaware's English Language Institute for a brief period in 2008.
Derek Lapiska pursued their education at the University of Delaware. Derek completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from 2007 to 2011, focusing on Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering. Later, from 2012 to 2013, they furthered their studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Teaching.
