Kathy Ayers has extensive work experience in the field of hydrogen and fuel cell research and development. Kathy began their career as a Research Assistant at Lawrence Livermore National Lab in 1987. Kathy then worked at Energizer as a Staff Technology Engineer from 1997 to 2007. Following that, they joined Distributed Energy Systems as the Manager of Electrochemical Research for a year. Kathy then became the Director of Research at Proton Energy Systems from 2007 to 2015. In 2015, they joined Nel Hydrogen as the Vice President of Research and Development, and they are currently in this role. Additionally, they have served as a Committee Member for the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee from 2015 to 2019, and as a Committee Member for the Basic Energy Sciences Advisory Committee from 2019 to 2020.
Kathy Ayers earned their Ph.D. in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering from Caltech, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry/Chemical Physics at UC San Diego, where they attended from 1989 to 1993. Kathy's education history also includes their graduation from Livermore High School, although the specific dates of their attendance and the field of study are not provided.
