Ryan Combs

Ryan Combs is an accomplished cybersecurity and information technology leader with extensive experience across multiple sectors. Currently serving as the Chief Information Security Officer at Nelnet since August 2014, Ryan leads cyber operations while ensuring compliance and security across the organization. With a rich background in the U.S. Air Force, including roles as a Chief Technology Officer and Communications Operations Chief, Ryan has overseen significant communications networks and trained military personnel in cyber operations. In addition to roles at Nelnet, Ryan currently serves on the boards of Buffalo Creek Gun Club Inc. and CampusGuard, further showcasing a commitment to community and governance. Ryan holds a Master’s degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Midwestern State University, and an Associate’s degree in Avionics Systems from the Community College of the Air Force.
