Ambar is a multidisciplinary transportation planner specializing in active transportation and comprehensive planning. Her academic background and advocacy work in the fields of history, traditional ecological knowledge, and mobility provide her with a unique understanding of systems and stories that have improved how cities, agencies, and communities experience transportation, processes, and relationships. Her goal is to use empathetic communication to ensure internal teams and external stakeholders can move forward together in a way that breaks silos across modes, practices, and generations.
Prior to Nelson\Nygaard, Ambar led the vision for 200+ miles of greenways in Metro Boston, co-launched Atlanta’s city-wide bike share program, and worked on transit feasibility studies in Metro Atlanta. She’s also a League Certified Instructor and beginner bike mechanic.
With levity and curiosity, Ambar helps clients and team members create implementable and generative solutions.
