Julia is an experienced planner and project manager with a passion for planning and urban design within the public realm. In her 12-year career, she has worked on projects large and small that encourage walking, bicycling, transit, and transit-supportive land use. Julia is known for bringing energy and enthusiasm to project teams. She has an inquisitive, scenario-based approach to planning and extensive experience guiding communities through the creation of transit corridor plans and transit-oriented development investment strategies. She helps clients communicate the transformative power of investments in the public realm to improve community health. Julia’s background in consulting for public agencies informs her belief in inclusive and meaningful community engagement processes and the importance of plans that are both visionary and implementable.
Julia has played a leading role in transportation and urban planning work throughout the country in communities including Denver and Aurora, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; Dallas and San Antonio, TX; Beaverton, OR; and Edmonds, WA. For Baton Rouge, LA, Julia developed designs for a streetcar link between downtown Baton Rouge and Louisiana State University, connecting major employment and education centers and leveraging redevelopment opportunities along the transit route. Julia has a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and is active in the Women in Transportation Seminar Portland Chapter.
