Sam Huffman

Sam’s goal is to offer thoughtful solutions to improve transportation. To do this, he combines his work experience in public transit planning and scheduling with his urban sociological background; this combination provides a holistic vision that emphasizes the needs of key stakeholders and accounts for marginalized groups.

Prior to joining Nelson\Nygaard, Sam worked as a planner/scheduler for Sarasota County Area Transit, where he made sure that bus schedules were as accurate and efficient as possible. He was also involved in on-vehicle, dispatching, and scheduling software improvements. Sam’s academic work was focused on affordable housing, the landlord-tenant relationship, and neighborhood development.
