Roel Barelds has extensive experience in medical informatics and health data standardization, beginning as a medical analyst at St. Jacobusstichting in 1977. Notably, Roel served as Cochair of the project group EHR-S FM NL and as a board member for Stichting HL7 Nederland, focusing on the implementation of electronic health records and personal health records in the Netherlands. With roles as a product manager for interoperability and standardization at Tenzinger and TNO, along with consulting positions at organizations like CareXS and Curasoft, Roel has emphasized the importance of standardized medical data exchange in healthcare. Currently, Roel holds positions at ChipSoft as a specialist in standards and at OIZ-Organisatie voor ICT leveranciers in de Zorg and NEN, while being semi-retired since June 2021.
