Michael Down

Michael Down is an experienced technology leader with a strong focus on financial services. Currently serving as the Head of Financial Services Technology at Neo4j since October 2021, Michael previously held multiple roles at Elastic, including Head of Financial Services - EMEA, Principal Solutions Architect, and Solutions Architect from January 2016 to October 2021. Prior to Elastic, Michael worked as a Big Data Designer & Tech Lead at Barclays, where notable achievements included the development of a real-time event analysis system leveraging NoSQL and Hadoop technologies. Earlier experience includes roles at Burberry, where significant contributions were made in setting up the first Hadoop cluster for customer insights, and Accenture, where projects involved designing Informatica workflows for major clients. Michael holds an MSc in Software Engineering Management from Durham University and a BSc in Sport Science from Aberystwyth University.
