Michael Cleland

Michael Cleland, M.Sc. RPP, MCIP, currently serves as Design Director for THE LINE Landscapes and Senior Manager for Public Realm and Placemaking at NEOM since May 2022. Previous experience includes key roles at RC Strategies as Senior Planning Associate and ActiveXchange Canada as Director of Strategy and Development. Michael also held the position of Returning Officer for Elections Ontario and served as a University Instructor at Vancouver Island University. Notable past positions at the City of Mississauga encompass Director of Environment Planning and Sustainability and Area Manager for Major Facilities, among other roles. Michael's consultancy work with MGP City Plan Ltd. involved planning for Kuwait Municipality, and earlier experience includes policy planning at the Region of Peel. Educational credentials feature a Master of Science in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Tourism and Recreation Management from Vancouver Island University.
