William Arndt

Computer Systems Engineer at NERSC

William Arndt is a Computer Systems Engineer at NERSC. His focus is the targeted optimization of bioinformatics applications for use on HPC resources supported by NERSC. He is funded by the Joint Genome Institute and focuses on improving software heavily used by JGI researchers.

Before coming to NERSC, Bill worked as a developer for the HMMER web service, optimizing the database infrastructure used to provide HMMER search results. He received his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina in 2011 where his research focused on algorithms that reveal the phylogenetic implications of genome rearrangement events.
