John Abbott

John Abbott has spent their career in the energy industry, starting with Shell in 1981. John has held various positions within the company, including Downstream Director, a position they held for almost 20 years. In this role, they were responsible for managing the company's Retail, Global Commercial (lubricants and business-to-business), Manufacturing, Chemicals, Trading & Supply businesses. In 2013, they left Shell to join Raízen, a Shell-Cosan joint venture which owns and operates sugar, ethanol and fuels sales and marketing operations in Brazil. John served on the company's Supervisory Board until 2019. In 2018, they joined the board of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as an Independent Director. John served on the board until 2021. John is currently an Independent Board Member at Neste.

John Abbott graduated from the University of Birmingham with a first-class honours degree in chemical engineering. John then went on to achieve certification as a chartered scientist from the Energy Institute and as a fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
