Charles Smith is currently the Director of Data Platform Architecture at Netflix, where they continue to enhance the Big Data Platform serving over 220 million users globally. With over a decade of experience in tackling complex data challenges, Charles previously held roles as a Big Data Platform Architect/Manager at Netflix, Web Application Architect at Tower Hill Insurance Group, and Senior Software Engineer at Strategic Technologies. They earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Florida after completing a B.S. in Computer Science from Eckerd College. Passionate about responsible data governance and team leadership, Charles enjoys creating seamless data experiences while mentoring high-performance teams. Outside of work, they spend their time playing board games, building Legos, and adventuring with their family.
