Derek McCarthy

Derek McCarthy has a diverse work experience spanning over many years. Derek is currently the Senior Director of Field Engineering at NetRise Inc., where they analyze firmware automated and at scale, generates software Bill of Materials (SBOM), and identifies and prioritizes vulnerabilities and other risks. Prior to this role, Derek worked as the Director of Field Engineering at NetRise Inc. Additionally, they own their own consulting company called D-Mac Consulting. Before that, Derek served as the Technical Director of Worldwide Strategic Partner Operations and Technical Director of Incident Response & Forensics at Cylance Inc., where they handled numerous incidents and contributed to the development of security tools. Derek also worked as a Principal Consultant of Incident Response and Forensics at Cylance Inc., providing various professional services to clients. Derek started their career as a Network Security Specialist at Draper Laboratory and later interned at both Draper Laboratory and Computer Service Solutions, gaining experience in asset management and computer networking. In addition to their professional experience, Derek worked as a Peer Advisor at Champlain College, assisting incoming freshmen students and presenting workshops on financial topics.

Derek McCarthy completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer and Digital Forensics, with a specialization in Computer Science, from Champlain College. Derek pursued this degree from 2010 to 2014.
